In the Sacramento area, shelters are over capacity. Most of the shelters cannot serve families with children. Due to government funding limitations, these families are limited to a lifetime maximum stay in a shelter for only 90 days.
Families with children are our most vulnerable homeless population. This desperate cycle of homelessness will only continue if we do not provide permanent housing and strategies that will give these families resources to integrate back into the community.
Faith & Homeless Families provides a well-defined way for the faith community to help homeless families with children as well as valuable services, including:
